Life in Britain may seem very different. Perhaps you are
already missing your family and friends. Perhaps you are finding
British culture unfamiliar and sometimes puzzling.
We hope this guide will help you learn a little more about the way of life here. Many of the habits or actions of British people may seem strange in comparison to your culture. This guide has been put together to help you understand British people a little better!
We will not be able to cover every aspect, so please contact us if you need any further assistance, we will be very pleased to help.
This guide has been put together by a charity called Friends International, a UK-based organisation made up of people who wish to offer friendship to international students when they come to stay in Britain. We try to help international students settle into their new life in university or college.
The guide has been (is being!) edited, with permission, by Friends International in Guildford, to provide specific information relevant to internationals in Guildford. Local-specific information is highlighted like this. Take a look at the New2UK website to read the unedited, "generic" guide.
Friends International is a Christian organisation that helps students of all faiths, or no faith, during their stay in the UK. Our services and friendship are offered unconditionally. If you would like more information please contact us:
